However, it can also happen that:

the start rent date is earlier than your physical arrival,

for example: contract from September 1, you arrive September 5.
In that case:

rent still starts from September 1,

the landlord is keeping the apartment only for you from that date,
- you pay rent from the start rent date, not from the day you choose to arrive.
